Skellig Michael
The most dramatically placed early Christian monastery in the world and a place of near-impossible beauty — Skellig Michael is a 218-metre pyramid of Atlantic rock 12 km off the Kerry coast of Ireland where monks of the 6th to 12th centuries built dry-stone beehive cells without mortar near the summit, descended 600 hand-carved stone steps to the sea to fish, and were raided by Vikings twice.
