J.J. Abrams filmed the closing sequences of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Skellig Michael in 2015. The island served as Ahch-To, the remote island where Rey finds Luke Skywalker in hiding. The ancient stone beehive huts and dramatic cliff stairs were seen by hundreds of millions worldwide.
