Motociclista is a 1929 painting by Italian artist Ivo Pannaggi, executed during his residence in Berlin. The work belongs to Pannaggi’s mature engagement with Futurism and the aesthetics of mechanical form.

Pannaggi joined the Futurist movement in 1918 but pursued a distinctive direction centered on machine imagery. In 1922, he and fellow artist Vinicio Paladini published the Manifesto of Futurist Mechanical Art, which positioned machine aesthetics (arte meccanica) as a dominant force in contemporary artistic practice. This theoretical framework shaped Pannaggi’s visual language throughout the 1920s, the period in which Motociclista was created.

The subject of a motorcyclist aligns with Futurism’s long-standing preoccupation with speed, dynamism, and modern technology. Pannaggi’s treatment of the theme reflects both Futurist principles and the geometric abstraction he encountered through his contact with the Bauhaus during his Berlin years (1927–1929).
