VALGATARA DI MARANO DI VALPOLICELLA, VENETO · ESTABLISHED 1870
San Rustico Wine

A fifth-generation family winery rooted in Valpolicella’s winemaking heritage, where brothers Marco and Enrico Campagnola maintain century-old traditions from vineyard to bottle.

At a glance

San Rustico represents five generations of continuous winemaking in the Valpolicella region. The estate honours Classic Valpolicella traditions while combining expertise in oenology and agronomy to produce wines of distinction.

History

The winery’s lineage began in 1870 in Marano di Valpolicella under Luigi Campagnola, whose reputation as a wine ambassador earned international recognition—including a gold medal awarded by the Consulate in Copenhagen in 1908. The business passed through generations of family stewardship. Today, brothers Marco and Enrico Campagnola continue this legacy following their father Danilo’s passing, maintaining the winemaking philosophy established over 150 years ago.

What you see

The estate operates as a working vineyard and production facility. Marco and Enrico personally oversee every stage of the winemaking process: vineyard cultivation, hand-selection and hand-picking of grapes, traditional grape drying, fermentation, aging, and bottling. Their complementary expertise—Marco as oenologist, Enrico as agronomist—ensures both technical precision and agricultural quality throughout production.

Cultural significance

San Rustico exemplifies the small-scale, family-operated model that defines much of Valpolicella’s wine culture. The winery’s continuity across five generations demonstrates the region’s commitment to preserving traditional winemaking methods in an evolving industry.
