The Alessandri family originated in Adrara as a patrician house. Some descendants settled in Castelli Calepio, where they competed with the counts of Calepio, while others relocated to Bergamo at the beginning of the 11th century. The family quickly became among the city’s most noble lineages.
In 1685, Giovanni Battista and Giulio Antonio Alessandri—uncle and nephew of the Bergamo branch—received the county of Villa di Caplecischis in the territory of Cividale del Friuli. Their noble titles were reconfirmed in 1818 and again in 1830, securing their status well into the modern era.
