History
Cusio developed as a small rural community in the high valleys north of Bergamo, an area long shaped by mountain agriculture, pasture and seasonal movement. Like its neighbouring communes, it preserves the building traditions and settlement patterns typical of the Bergamasque Prealps.
What you see
The village is a compact cluster of stone houses set among wooded slopes and open pasture, with a parish church at its centre. Its elevated position gives wide views over the surrounding mountains of the Orobie range and the valleys that descend toward Bergamo.
Cultural significance
As one of the smallest communes of the Bergamasque mountains, Cusio is part of the living heritage of the Lombard Prealps, where traditional alpine settlements and customs endure. Its rural fabric reflects centuries of mountain life in the province of Bergamo.
