Luciano Disperdi, born in 1940 in Roverbella in the province of Mantua, abandoned his early passion for painting during his university years to study naval engineering in Trieste. In 1971, he joined Fincantieri, where he worked as a naval engineer until 2000. From 2000 to 2010, he operated as an independent naval design consultant. Upon retiring in 2010, Disperdi gradually returned to painting, dedicating himself exclusively to watercolor.
