Two women holding up a dead soldier on his shield, in bronze on a fluted stele in Piazza Ganganelli: Bernardino Boifava modelled it in 1925 and the town unveiled it on 4 November 1928.
Four works Carlo Scarpa left inside the historic city, walked west to east: the gate he drew for the school of architecture and never saw built, the lecture hall at Ca’ Foscari, the Olivetti showroom under the Procuratie, and the water garden at the Querini Stampalia.
Carlo Scarpa drew the entrance to the Venice school of architecture from 1966 and never saw it built: a tilted canopy, a gate balanced between stone and glass, and a Gothic portal laid flat in water. Built in 1985, seven years after his death.
