On the upper floor of a house with a two-storey loggia on via Molari, a marble tablet with a carved trophy — a Phrygian cap, a bundle of fasces, an axe, oak and laurel, and a medallion with the Mazzinian motto Pensiero e Azione — remembers Eduardo Sancisi, who died in this house. The republicans of the town put it up on 15 May 1908. It says what he did in the plainest way a monument can: he organised the workers, he served the public business, he held to the republican faith. The town later gave his name to a street.

— «To the contested claims, from this house where he died, may the memory of Eduardo Sancisi be a living spur: the republican faith, firm, combative, tenacious, and his great love for his native town he showed admirably in the workers’ organisations, in public affairs, in every idea of civil progress. By vote of the republicans, 15 May 1908.»

The republican movement of Romagna in those years was the political home of the braccianti and the artisans, and Santarcangelo was one of its towns; the plaque belongs to that history, and we could not find him in any source we could reach online.
