The original structure was built or substantially enlarged in the seventeenth century under the Medici di Marignano, Milanese patricians who held civic offices under Spanish rule. The Giulini family, known for their contributions to Lombard historical scholarship, took ownership in the eighteenth century and adapted the villa to Neoclassical taste, commissioning garden improvements and interior decoration. The estate changed hands again in later centuries and has been subject to varying degrees of conservation effort.

Getting there
Briosco is served by the Molteno–Monza railway line (Trenord); alight at Briosco station. From Milan Centrale, take a regional train to Monza and change. By car from Milan, take the A4 autostrada toward Bergamo and exit at Usmate Velate, then continue north on the SP342 toward the Brianza hills. The Brianza is also accessible by bus from Monza and Lecco.
