Srinagarindra Train Night Market
The Srinagarindra Train Night Market — also known as Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin or Train Night Market Srinakarin — is one of Bangkok’s largest and most popular vintage-style night markets, spread across a wide open-air site on Srinagarindra Road in the eastern suburbs of the city. Covering several acres and hosting hundreds of vendors, the market specialises in antiques, vintage clothing, retro collectibles, street food, and live music, all set among an eclectic collection of old railway carriages and vintage vehicles that give the venue its railway atmosphere. Cultural Heritage Online documents this contemporary heritage-themed market as a significant expression of Bangkok’s urban cultural life.

Overview
The Srinagarindra Train Night Market is the successor to the original Rot Fai Market that operated near Chatuchak Weekend Market. When the original site closed, the market relocated to a much larger space on Srinagarindra Road in eastern Bangkok, where it operates Thursday through Sunday evenings. The market attracts large crowds of both Thais and international visitors drawn by its wide selection of vintage and antique goods, retro fashion, Thai street food, and an atmospheric setting enlivened by old railway carriages used as bars and restaurants.
History
The original Train Market (Talad Rot Fai) emerged as part of Bangkok’s creative market scene in the 2000s, building on enthusiasm for vintage culture and retro aesthetics. The name derives from the presence of genuine antique railway carriages repurposed as shops, bars, and restaurants, creating an immersive retro environment. The Srinagarindra location, opened around 2014, significantly expanded the concept and became one of the definitive night-market destinations in the Thai capital. It has since inspired similar markets across Thailand.
What you see
Visitors enter through a lively food zone of street-food stalls offering Thai classics, grilled seafood, and international dishes. Deeper into the market, long rows of vendors display antique furniture, vintage cameras, vinyl records, retro clothing, and Thai collectibles. Repurposed railway carriages painted in vivid colours serve as bars and food outlets. After dark, the market takes on a festive atmosphere with live music at several stages, coloured lighting, and a dense, convivial crowd.
Cultural significance
The Srinagarindra Train Night Market exemplifies Bangkok’s vibrant contemporary market culture and its enthusiasm for recycling heritage objects — railway carriages, vintage vehicles, antique furniture — into new commercial and social spaces. It reflects a broader Thai cultural practice of repurposing the material past as a setting for contemporary community life.
