The Myrese area—named from this classical period—was crossed by the delta of the Medoacus Maior in the 2nd century BC. The landscape Livio described, with distant hills and a wide, deep river flowing into lagoons, corresponds to the Venetian lagoon territory as it existed in antiquity.
