Overview
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is a mostly indoor theme park dedicated to the Italian carmaker Ferrari. It opened on Yas Island in 2010 as the first Ferrari-branded park of its kind. Its signature attraction, Formula Rossa, became the world’s fastest roller coaster on opening.
History
The park was developed as part of the wider tourism and leisure expansion of Yas Island, conceived as a flagship attraction tied to the Ferrari brand and to the adjacent motorsport circuit. It opened to the public in 2010. Since then it has expanded with additional rides and experiences themed around Ferrari’s heritage in racing and road cars.
What you see
The complex is sheltered beneath a vast red roof carrying the Ferrari emblem, one of the largest of its kind. Inside, visitors find rides, racing simulators and exhibits celebrating the marque. Formula Rossa, the high-speed roller coaster, is the centrepiece, alongside family attractions and displays of Ferrari cars.
Cultural significance
As the first themed park built around the Ferrari name, the site has become a landmark of Abu Dhabi’s leisure offering and a symbol of the Italian automotive brand’s global reach. It links Italian industrial design and motorsport heritage to a major Gulf tourism destination.
