Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade — Film Location

In Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), the rose-red façade of Al-Khazneh — the Treasury at Petra — stands in for the Canyon of the Crescent Moon, the temple guarding the Holy Grail. The Nabataean tomb, cut directly into the sandstone cliff in the first century, needed no set dressing: Spielberg filmed the exterior as it is, and the scene fixed Petra in the popular imagination as the archetypal lost city.
