The Palazzo dell’Intendenza di Finanza in Littoria, now Latina, was designed by architect Oriolo Frezzotti and completed in 1931–32. The building served as the seat of the city’s Finance Ministry office and formed part of the administrative complex of the newly established city.
Frezzotti was commissioned by the Opera Nazionale Combattenti in 1931 to direct the master plan for Littoria, working in collaboration with engineer Caio Savoia. The project was presented the following year, and the city’s inaugural ceremony took place on 30 June 1932 with the laying of the foundation stone. The Palazzo dell’Intendenza di Finanza stands as one of the key public buildings realized during this foundational phase of the city.
About Oriolo Frezzotti
Oriolo Frezzotti (1888–1965) was a Roman architect and urban planner who trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. Early in his career he collaborated with Florestano Di Fausto on works in the Dodecanese. During the 1920s he undertook several commissions from the City of Rome, including the renovation of Porta Maggiore and interventions in the Trionfale district and the San Saba and Esquilino quarters. The Littoria project represented his most significant urban planning assignment.
