Torre Branca is a steel-frame panoramic tower designed by architect Gio Ponti in 1933, located in Parco Sempione, Milan’s principal city park.
The tower stands as an example of early-twentieth-century modernist design. Its observation deck provides panoramic views of the Milan cityscape; on clear days, the vista extends to the Alps, the Apennines, and part of the Po Valley.
About Gio Ponti
Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was an Italian architect, industrial designer, and publisher whose career spanned six decades. He founded the magazine Domus in 1928 and directed it throughout his life, establishing himself as a major advocate for Italian design renewal. Among his most celebrated works is the Pirelli Tower in Milan, completed in 1960 in collaboration with engineer Pier Luigi Nervi. Ponti taught at the Milan Polytechnic School from 1936 to 1961 and was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1956.
The tower was designed by Gio Ponti, an Italian architect and designer known for his prolific output across multiple design disciplines and his leadership in modern Italian architecture.
