Manti National Guard Armory

History
Construction took place between 1936 and 1938 under the Works Progress Administration, a New Deal relief program that employed thousands of architects and builders across the nation. The armory was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
Architect Niels P. Larsen designed at least six National Guard armories throughout Utah during this period. Of these, only four survived as of 1986: Manti, Mount Pleasant, Nephi, and Fillmore. The Spanish Fork armory was also NRHP-listed in 1986 but subsequently delisted in 1996, presumably following demolition. Armories in Logan and Cedar City had already been demolished.
