History
The monastery was built over foundations dating to around 1415. In 1530, Voievod Petru Rareş and his chancellor Teodor Bubuiog reconstructed the complex, creating the structure that largely survives today. The monastery closed in 1786 during a period of religious suppression but reopened in 1990 following Romania’s political transition.
