Near the top of La Rambla, at the corner of Carrer dels Tallers, a long house of the 1850s has been a hotel for a century. The city protects it for its composed facade and for the remains of a bakery of 1786 on its side street.

History
The municipal catalogue dates the house to around 1850 and describes it as a large building of flats with the features typical of its moment. The Catalan Wikipedia adds that in 1851 Pere Bernis asked permission to demolish the previous building on the corner and rebuild it to a design by the master builder Narcís Nuet; we have not found this confirmed in a second source.
On the Carrer dels Tallers side the ground floor keeps, in part, a bakery dated 1786, older than the house above it. The catalogue notes that it was modified and altered during an intervention in 1987.
The Hotel Lloret gives 1926 as its founding year, and the Catalan Wikipedia also records the conversion to hotel use from 1926. The hotel itself describes the building as early twentieth-century, which does not match the city’s dating; we follow the catalogue.
What you see
The photograph shows the long Rambla front. The ground floor is a row of round arches in stone, now filled by shops and by the lit sign of the hotel at number 125. Above it a continuous wrought-iron balcony runs the whole length of the first floor and, according to the catalogue, turns the corner into Carrer dels Tallers.
From the middle of that balcony rise pilasters with Corinthian capitals, which divide the facade into bays painted alternately cream and pink. They carry a cornice at the height of the third floor, whose balconies are smaller than those below; the top storey has the small openings of the roof ventilation chamber. Globe lamps on iron brackets hang from the first-floor balcony.

- The 1786 bakery remains are on the Carrer dels Tallers side, at street level.
- The top of La Rambla is busy all day; mornings are quieter.
Getting there
Catalunya station (metro L1 and L3, regional and FGC trains) is about three minutes’ walk away at Plaça de Catalunya. Liceu (L3) is about seven minutes down La Rambla.
