Release Anniversary: Oltre l’amore — September 2, 1940

Oltre l’amore, Carmine Gallone’s adaptation of Stendhal’s Vanina Vanini, had its world premiere at the Venice Mostra on 2 September 1940, one day after the festival opened; general distribution in Italian cinemas followed in March 1941. It starred Alida Valli as Vanina and, opposite her, Amedeo Nazzari as the carbonaro Pietro Mirilli — the role Treccani credits with moving Nazzari toward the dramatic parts that defined the rest of his career — with Osvaldo Valenti as the rival Livio Savelli.

Dates verified on Italian Wikipedia, voce del film (prima 2 settembre 1940, distribuzione marzo 1941).
