Royal Tombs in Neungsan-ri
A cluster of earthen royal burial mounds from Korea’s Baekje kingdom, scattered across Neungsallisan mountain in South Chungcheong Province. Seven numbered tombs remain, though most were excavated and partially looted during the early twentieth century.

History
Systematic excavation began in 1915 under Japanese colonial administration. Kuroita Katsumi excavated tombs 2 and 3, while tomb 5 was also opened that year. By 1917, tombs 1, 4, and 6 had been examined. Extensive looting had already compromised the deposits; only tombs 5 and 2 yielded notable artifacts. Tomb 7 emerged during repair work in 1971, suggesting additional burials may remain undocumented.
