About Gio Ponti
Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was an Italian architect, industrial designer, and publisher whose career spanned six decades. He founded the magazine Domus in 1928 and directed it throughout his life, establishing himself as a major advocate for Italian design renewal. Among his most celebrated works is the Pirelli Tower in Milan, completed in 1960 in collaboration with engineer Pier Luigi Nervi. Ponti taught at the Milan Polytechnic School from 1936 to 1961 and was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1956.
