History
Archaeological evidence places human settlement at Qattara during the late Bronze Age, between 1800 and 1500 BCE, in Arabia’s prehistoric period. The oasis later developed as a permanent agricultural community, with successive generations building dwellings and places of worship across the centuries. Systematic archaeological survey by Al Ain University students since 2015 has documented the site’s complex stratigraphy and identified structures of varying antiquity, some among the oldest surviving buildings in Al Ain itself.
