What you see
Mario Botta designed a building shaped as a large cylinder, clad in Prun stone and excavated directly into the hillside. The structure disappears into the landscape rather than imposing upon it—a deliberate strategy that makes the architecture itself a natural element of the terrain.
Natural light filters throughout the interiors via strategic openings. A monumental staircase guides visitors to an elevated balcony offering panoramic vistas of the Tyrrhenian Sea and its islands. A long tunnel carved through the hill provides access to the working areas: the pressing section, steel fermentation room, and two dramatic barrel-aging chambers where wine matures in oak.
