The City of Zagreb honoured the theatre’s work with a commemorative plaque in 2009.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Mala Scena partnered with the Croatian National Theatre to transition programming to digital platforms. The theatre has weathered financial difficulties across its history, including multiple bankruptcies, yet has consistently recovered to continue its mission.
