Overview
La Palafitta is at Villaregia, an outlying village of Porto Viro, in the Province of Rovigo — the Venetian side of the Po delta, not the Emilian one.
The house states its own idea of the cooking in the archive entry: true lagoon cooking, it says, uses local produce and keeps the traditional recipes, with a touch of its own.
History
The restaurant took part in the fifth series of 4 Ristoranti, broadcast in 2019, in the second episode: the contest for the best lagoon restaurant of the Venetian Po delta, against In Marinetta, Osteria Arcadia and Canarin. The episode was won by Osteria Arcadia.
The programme 4 Ristoranti, led by the chef Alessandro Borghese, sets four restaurants of the same area against one another; each host eats at the others and marks them.
What you see
The delta is a landscape of embankments, fish traps and mussel beds; the Sacca degli Scardovari, the great shallow bay that supplies much of the local kitchen, lies a few kilometres to the south.
