In 1904, it became the first electrically lit and heated church in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy—a distinction that reflected both Bregenz’s prosperity and the rapid modernization of Central Europe at the turn of the 20th century.

In the choir stands a war memorial dedicated to those lost in the First World War, featuring a stone crucifix by sculptor Albert Bechtold, installed in 1923. The organ, built by Rieger Orgelbau in 1981, represents the church’s 20th-century refurbishment.
