History
The site has hosted a church dedicated to Saint James the Greater since the 14th century. In 1869, architect Pierre Cuypers undertook a complete rebuild, establishing the church that stands today. The building formally began service as a parish church in 1873. Nearly a century later, in 1953, architect Harry Koene expanded the interior, adding a larger choir, apse, and sacristy to accommodate the congregation. The church was designated a national monument in 1967, recognizing its historical and architectural value.
