Byeongsan Seowon

In 1613, during the reign of King Gwanghaegung, local Confucian scholars led by Jeong Gyeong-se transformed the space into Jondeoksa (尊德祠), a shrine and academy dedicated to Yu Sŏngnyong’s scholarly achievements and moral virtue. This conversion marked the institution’s evolution into a seowon proper.
