Buda Castle is the historic castle used by Hungarian kings in Budapest. In the past it was also called "royal palace" and "royal castle".
It was built on the south side of the hill, near the old castle quarter (Várnegyed), famous for its Baroque style and 19th century houses and public buildings.
It is connected to Adam Clark Square and the Chain Bridge (Széchenyi lánchíd) by the Budapest Castle funicular.
Buda Castle was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1987.
