The James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) made the assassin Scaramanga’s hideaway out of Khao Phing Kan, the leaning limestone islet in Phang Nga Bay — known ever since as ‘James Bond Island.’ The bay’s forest of karst towers, rising sheer from the Andaman Sea, has been overrun by visitors in the decades since.
