Maison Roosenboom: inside a restored Brussels Art Nouveau house

Korei Guided Tours is a Brussels association that opens buildings the public normally cannot enter, publishing a programme of walks and interior visits month by month in Dutch, French and English. These are its English-language departures for Maison Roosenboom.

On rue Faider in Ixelles stands a house designed in 1900 by the painter-architect Albert Roosenboom, which Korei places among the highlights of Brussels Art Nouveau alongside the Horta Museum and Maison Hannon. Once abandoned and declared uninhabitable, it was given an extensive restoration from 2020 onwards. The façade — sgraffito panels by Privat Livemont, and a bow window — has its original colours back; inside, mosaics, wall panelling and ceiling paintings have been returned to their historic appearance. The visit runs from the entrance hall to the salon, and part of it takes place in the garden.
