Herb walk with a tasting at Herkenrode Abbey
The Cistercians at Herkenrode used the plants growing around them, and a good many of those plants are still there. On 30 August 2026 Herita walks the abbey grounds with an experienced herbalist, reading the site through what grows on it.
The walk covers the wild herbs found across the abbey site, the use the monks made of them, and how to tell one from another in the field. It ends with a tasting.
Herkenrode Abbey, outside Hasselt, is one of the monuments in Herita’s care.
Practical information
When: Sunday 30 August 2026, 10:00. Meet at 09:55 at the gate building.
Where: Abdij van Herkenrode, Herkenrodeabdij 4, 3511 Hasselt.
Price: €5 per person.
