Death Anniversary: Vincenzo Agnetti — September 1, 1981

Vincenzo Agnetti died in Milan on 1 September 1981, at 54, of a brain haemorrhage. In the fourteen years after Argentina he made more than a hundred works in which the writing is the image: felt and bakelite panels carrying sentences, photographs, and the Macchina drogata, an Olivetti calculator whose numbers he replaced with letters, so that it could only produce words. His studio in Milan is now the Archivio Vincenzo Agnetti.
