Death Anniversary: Jože Plečnik — January 7, 1957

Jože Plečnik died at his home in the Trnovo district of Ljubljana on 7 January 1957. Few architects have shaped a single city so completely: the Triple Bridge, built to his design between 1929 and 1932, the riverside embankments and the National and University Library are all his, drawn in a classical language nobody else spoke in the twentieth century. UNESCO inscribed his Ljubljana works in 2021 as a one-man urban vision.
