Death Anniversary: Antonio Lucio Vivaldi — July 28, 1741
He died in Vienna on 28 July 1741 in poverty, having travelled to the imperial capital seeking royal patronage shortly before Emperor Charles VI’s sudden death. The composer of over five hundred concertos, including The Four Seasons, he established the three-movement ritornello concerto form that shaped the European baroque.
