Birth Anniversary: Sir Christopher Wren — October 20, 1632
20 October 2027
Christopher Wren, the architect who rebuilt London’s skyline after the Great Fire, was born on 20 October 1632 in Wiltshire. St Paul’s Cathedral is the work everyone remembers; Hampton Court Palace shows the other half of his range, the Baroque King’s and Queen’s apartments he raised in the 1690s for William III and Mary II onto a Tudor palace built two centuries before him. Few architects got to finish a cathedral and extend a royal palace in the same career.
