Death Anniversary: Charles Rennie Mackintosh — December 10, 1928
10 December 2026
Charles Rennie Mackintosh died in London on 10 December 1928, after difficult years far from any large commission. Towards the end he had almost given up architecture for watercolour, painting landscapes and flowers of rare intensity. Fully recognised only after his death, he is now counted among the masters who carried Art Nouveau decoration towards the rigour of the twentieth century. The anniversary marks his legacy, from the Glasgow School of Art to interiors designed down to the smallest fitting.
