Gino Coppedè (Firenze, 26 settembre 1866 – Roma, 20 settembre 1927) morì a Roma sei giorni prima di compiere sessantun anni, senza vedere completato il quartiere che porta il suo nome. Figlio dell’intagliatore Mariano, formatosi a Firenze tra arti decorative e Accademia di Belle Arti, costruì per la borghesia genovese il Castello Mackenzie (1897–1906) e il Castello Bruzzo, e dal 1915 progettò a Roma il Quartiere Coppedè: ventisei palazzi e diciassette villini tra via Salaria e via Nomentana, con la Fontana delle Rane di piazza Mincio. I lavori furono terminati dal genero Paolo Emilio Andrè.
