PARIS, FRANCE · ARTISTS’ STUDIO
55 rue du Mont-Cenis

An artist’s studio behind a Montmartre street door: the working room a city’s art comes out of, and that visitors almost never see.

At a glance

Number 55 rue du Mont-Cenis is in the Clignancourt quarter of the 18th arrondissement, on the northern slope below Montmartre. The street climbs from the boulevard towards the hill, and this is the address of the studio of the French artist Stéphane Thidet.

A studio of this kind is a working place, not a museum: it is closed to the public for most of the year, and it opens when an exhibition or a project needs the room.

Key facts

 • Address: 55 rue du Mont-Cenis, 75018 Paris
 • Quarter: Clignancourt, 18th arrondissement
 • Coordinates: 48.8903, 2.3433
 • Type: artists’ studio, working space
 • Opened as an exhibition space for: ARRIVAL Gallery Paris Art Show, 6-8 November 2026

History

The address is documented as the studio of Stéphane Thidet, who gives it at the head of his own curriculum. In November 2026 the room is used for a three-day exhibition organised by ARRIVAL Gallery, an open-call art project that shows in temporary spaces rather than in a permanent building.

That is the ordinary life of a studio in a city like Paris: a private working room that becomes public for a few days, and then goes back to being a room where things are made.

What you see

From the street there is a door and a wall, and nothing that announces an artist. Inside, a studio of this generation is a workshop of materials and tools rather than a gallery: works in progress, storage, the light that comes from the windows.

The 360° view below shows the street in front of number 55: the pavement, the facades, the slope towards Montmartre. It is the honest view of an artists’ studio from outside, which is how almost everyone meets one.

Practical information

 • Private working studio: not open to the public outside exhibitions
 • The Paris Art Show of ARRIVAL Gallery runs 6-8 November 2026, with free entry and advance booking on Eventbrite
