Death Anniversary: Pietro Antonio Locatelli — March 30, 1764
He died in Amsterdam on 30 March 1764, where he had lived as an independent publisher, art collector and concertmaster since 1729. His landmark 1733 collection L’Arte del Violino, op. 3, containing twenty-four brilliant concertos and capping capriccios, anticipated the transcendent virtuosity of Paganini by nearly a century.
