Tempio Nazionale dell’Internato Ignoto — Padova (sculture di Mirko Vucetich)

The Tempio Nazionale dell’Internato Ignoto stands on Viale dell’Internato Ignoto in Padua, kept by the Federazione ANEI Padova and the Museo dell’Internamento. It is the national memorial to the Italians deported to the Nazi camps and to those who did not return, and its sculpture is by Mirko Vucetich.

The Comune di Vicenza devoted a conference to exactly this in 2024 — *Il Tempio dell’Internato Ignoto di Padova e le sculture di Vucetich. Sacrari e memoriali per elaborare il passato* — which is how the attribution is documented from the public side rather than from ours.

The temple belongs to the same years and the same impulse as the memorial at Bolzano Vicentino and the monument at Pescantina: after the war, this corner of the Veneto asked its artists to find a form for something that had no form.
