Feast of Saint Isidore of Seville — April 4

The feast of Saint Isidore of Seville, bishop and encyclopedist whose Etymologiae tried to fit all known learning into one book, falls on 4 April. In 1063 his relics were carried out of Muslim Seville to the young Christian kingdom of León, where King Fernando I built a royal church to receive them. The Real Colegiata de San Isidoro still holds him, four centuries and a border away from where he actually lived and wrote.
