Death Anniversary: Johannes Kepler — November 15, 1630

Johannes Kepler died on 15 November 1630 in Regensburg, where he had travelled to collect wages the empire owed him and never left. He was buried in the city’s St. Peter cemetery, but the grave was lost within a few years in the chaos of the Thirty Years’ War. Regensburg’s old town, otherwise untouched by that war, still keeps the house where the astronomer who gave the planets their real orbits spent his last days.
