The Language of Things (Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte, Dortmund)

11 September 2026 — 28 February 2027
Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte DortmundGroße Kirche Aplerbeck

In May 2026 a group of people with very different lives came together in Dortmund to form a curatorial team, answering an open call addressed to the city at large. What they produced is Die Sprache der Dinge — The Language of Things — an exhibition about everyday objects and the stories of memory, routine and longing they carry.

The group worked on the submissions while questioning its own role: what curating means, which perspectives get counted and which are never heard. The museum describes the result as a multi-voiced participation project, whose aim is to open a space, name the gaps and give a platform to stories that usually stay invisible. It is shown in the special exhibition rooms on the ground floor, which are step-free.
