The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art (Paine Art Center, Oshkosh)
Around 120 works of Art Nouveau from the collection of the Chrysler Museum of Art — furniture, paintings, sculpture, mosaics, books, posters, prints, lamps and glass — travel to the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The touring exhibition, organised by International Arts & Artists, shows how the movement put nature at the centre of design at the turn of the twentieth century.
The Paine itself — a 1920s estate with formal gardens — is a fitting host for a style that never separated art from ornament, or ornament from the natural world.
