Anniversary: Villa Girasole in the Luce Newsreel — December 4, 1935

On 4 December 1935 the Giornale Luce B0791 showed Italy the villa that turns with the sun: Villa Girasole at Marcellise, conceived by the engineer Angelo Invernizzi, with the house rotating on bogies to follow the daylight. The newsreel films the drawings, the gearing under the terrace, the wheels on their rails and the tower at the different points of its rotation, in the very year the villa was finished. It remains one of the finest filmed documents of Italian engineering in the 1930s.
