The Dominican Church, its Convent and its Underground
MiC Košice — Potulky mestom has been opening the city’s closed doors to visitors since 2004, every month, telling the stories behind buildings people usually pass without entering. At the turn of October and November the walk goes to the oldest building in Košice, and underneath it.
The Dominican church was raised around 1290 and is first named in a document of 1303 — older than anything else standing in the city. This walk covers the church and the convent, what the Dominicans did for Košice, the miracle associated with St Soriano, and the underground spaces below. It also enters the sacristy, which is not normally open to the public, and ends with a documentary film.
