History
Sudek established his studio in 1927 and worked there continuously until 1976—nearly fifty years of creative output. The original structure, modest in scale, became the birthplace of some of Czech photography’s most celebrated images. In 1990, following Sudek’s legacy, the studio was designated a national heritage site, recognizing its cultural and historical importance.

The replica studio remains intimate in scale: a compact pavilion fitting seamlessly into the courtyard of the surrounding apartment buildings. Its restrained design allowed maximum attention to Sudek’s primary concern—the precise orchestration of light within a working space.
