History
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, founder of Jaipur, commissioned the palace in 1728 as a romantic gesture for his second wife. The queen descended from the Sisodia line of Suryavanshi (Sun dynasty) Rajputs, the ruling family of the Mewar region. Her lineage shaped the site’s name and cultural identity.
